Moved website to Habari

As my previous website hadn't been updated since 2006, a change was needed. Though the previous one could be updated relatively easily, it was still a bit of a chore. Was that why the updates became so sporadic? Well, that and lots of work. I don't want to reduce the amount of work that I do, so I decided to change the easy of posting.

This blog uses habari, a php blogging platform. It is quite simple, the code is readable, and it can use a number of different database backends. I've been using sqlite3 recently, so went looking for platforms which used that software.

I'm hopeful that this combination will make the site easy to update, maintain and backup. I will post on the experience...

I'm using the current stable release of habari (0.6.4) though a new stable release is imminent. For the theme, I'm using the Aligned theme, with the static_front plugin to start the web site at a static home page instead of the blog. I've had to change some code (else it wouldn't be educational :) and I've tweaked the css to my eye. In time I would like to try some webfonts as well as it seems like a useful technology.

Glad you like it. I'm liking using habari, though I haven't had much time to work with it.I am all for easy to read, understand and maintain technology, though understandable is very subjective.

I do wish that there was more documentation -- I guess I'll need to add some. When I've got time ....
